May Developer Update

Let's check out what's on the horizon for May and recap what went down in April!

Events

While the dev team plans out future events, we are going to host a one-off return of our most popular event to date. Expect to see In the Round return towards the end of the season for a special guest appearance.

One round.

Nine turns.

Oof.

New card highlights

There's still plenty to look forward to in Season 3, including a brand new collection:

  • Oni (Japanese Folklore) - The original ogres of Japanese mythology sport horns, wield massive clubs, and generally have a bad reputation for causing trouble.
  • Speak of the Devil (World of Words) - This quirky phrase has its roots tangled deep within the superstitions of the Middle Ages, a time when mentioning the devil was literally believed to invite his presence.
  • Asanbosam (West African Folklore) - That’s right, the West African Folklore collection is coming to CUE in season 3 (inspired by a community suggestion).

Community events to get stuck into!

We’ll leave you with some dates so you can update your calendars:

  • Season 3 Art Competition* - 6th May - 10th May (Discord)
  • Season 3 Player Lottery - 15th May - Look out for winners of our first lottery across socials and news posts!
  • Game with Devs* - Most Thursdays 3pm BST (Discord) - hang out with a couple of developers, play some games and win some cards!

* Jump into our official Discord server to find out more on how to enter, invites can be found in the game settings or on our website!

April Recap

New Card highlights from Season 3

We’ve seen some exciting cards drop this season, shaking up the meta and boosting some beloved collections. (I’m looking at you, CUE Palaeontology Fan Club… you know who you are.)

  • Hell Creek Formation (Limited Legendary) - 8/78 - When drawn, give your Palaeontology cards, wherever they are, +10 Power until played, and your Groundbreakers and Land Before Time cards an additional +20 Power for five turns.
  • Lungfish (Limited Legendary) - 9/53 - When drawn, for every round completed in this game, give your Fabulous and Feisty Fish cards, wherever they are, +9 Power until played.
  • Pandora (Limited Legendary) - 7/56 - When played, if you have played 5 Ancient Greece cards in this game, all non Ancient Greece cards, wherever they are in either player's deck, lose -18 Power for 4 turns.

April balance patches!

We also saw balance patches at the start of the month to take on some of the more prevalent decks in league play and provide players with more competitive options!

Starting off with reworks of Sublimation and a community-led redesign of the Emperor Penguin. Prominent Painters and Ocean Mammals also saw buffs with improvements on a selection of key cards.

Space Technology and Radical Rockets were two collections that received very slight nerfs while still remaining pretty powerful. Lock cards also received a couple of changes; the play style had become a little more suffocating than we would like, so they now have to be manoeuvred with some careful cycling.

We’d love to thank our community for all the feedback given on card balance. It goes a long way - pretty much the whole way, actually, in helping us keep deck options fresh and give collections the support they need!

Keep it CUE!
