Rainbow Eucalyptus

The Rainbow Eucalyptus does in fact exist in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

That looks Photoshopped, right?! Totally looks like an April Fool’s card, but the Rainbow Eucalyptus does in fact exist in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. It’s pretty unique, not just for its dazzling colors, but it’s the only eucalyptus from the northern hemisphere, and the only one to survive in rainforests.

The cool rainbow effect is created as the bark peels away from the tree, exposing the green inner layer which when exposed to air creates this spectrum of color. And like other eucalyptus trees it grows tall and fast - up to 75 metres in their natural environment!

So they’re cool, they’re gorgeous, they’re massive, they’re unique and they’re used to prevent malaria, as such thirsty trees make for a more hostile environment for moisture-loving mosquitoes.

Some trees just have it all.
