All About Alchemy

9:00 UTC

You’ve reached the halfway point with the 8 Immortals packs today and you’ll find a chance of picking up Lan Caihe. This eccentric flute-player will, when drawn, reduce the Energy cost of your Eight Immortals cards by -1 for 3 turns. When played with He Xiangu, give your Plant Life cards +15 Power until played and give He Xiangu +25 Power permanently.

You can also kick off your Wednesday with a healthy dose of Fill Your Cup, Fill Your Boots and Fill Your Coffers to load up on cards, coins and gems.

12:00 UTC

While it would be cool to believe everyone who said they had discovered the secrets of eternal life, a few of those folk might have been telling fibs. Today’s Hoaxes and Cons pack looks at 4 examples of people who may or may not have been stretching the truth when it came to the secrets of the supernatural. Which ones would you have believed?

  • Nicholas Flamel - the very real French alchemist claimed to have discovered the elixir of life, but still managed to die in 1418. Shame. When played on turn 1 of the round, give your Excellent Elements cards wherever they are +14 Power until played, give them +19 Power when played on turn 2, or give them +24 Power when played on turn 3!
  • Count of St. Germain - This (supposed) time travelling alchemist will, when played, give your Marvellous Medicine, Musically Minded and The Occult cards +12 Power until played.
  • Hermippus Redivivus - This creepy treatise claims that the breath of young women keeps you young. Thankfully, it was revealed to be a satire so, when drawn, your Brilliant Human Body cards in hand cost -1 Energy for 2 turns.
  • Lady Hope's Story - This lady claimed to convert Charles Darwin to Christianity on his deathbed…even though there is no record of them ever meeting. I’m convinced, are you convinced? When played with Charles Darwin, give this card +40 Power this turn.
