Movie Marathon Quiz Answers!

The time has come for you to prove your cinematic knowledge! Here are the answers to yesterday’s questions and a shocking twist that we’ll bet you never saw coming (except that we asked you to guess the link yesterday)!

  • Nosferatu - this 1920s silent movie was indeed a total copy of Dracula with the names changed. We know copying someone else’s homework is wrong but the movie is still very cool and we can’t wait for the remake from Robert Eggers (of The Witch and The Lighthouse fame) coming later this year!
  • House on Haunted Hill - would we want to stay in a haunted house with Vincent Price? Yes. Would he probably kill us? Yes. Would we wind up forgiving him? Also yes.
  • Night of the Living Dead - made by zombie maestro George A Romero, this launched not only the “...of the Dead” franchise but oh so many copycats (of varying levels of success). Still freaks us out and all the flesh-munching is still gross. Bravo.
  • Cabinet of Dr Caligari - a monumental film in the German Expressionism movement, it’s no wonder Tim Burton loves this. Odd angles, sharp silhouettes and darkness abound. This is a gothic dream. Literally. Because it’s about a sleepwalker.
  • The Infernal Cauldron - at less than 2 minutes, this bite-sized silent film came from the colorful mind of Georges Méliès - director behind Le Voyage Dans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon). His team hand-painted the film cells so that audiences could watch his colorful horror film at a time when color was cutting edge in cinema!

And what’s the link? Drumroll please…every one of these cards is in our Stage and Screen collection! The horror movie buffs on the CUE team are always at hand with some spooky cards and we love getting some frights into one of our favorite collections.

Even better, all of these films are in the public domain (some for sillier reasons than others, we’re looking at you, Night of the Living Dead) so you can enjoy them all for free. We’ll be sharing links over on our Instagram stories for each one and we’d love to see some pictures of you enjoying a CUE-themed horror movie marathon! Now pass the popcorn…
