Myths and Legends - a Final Goodbye

That’s it! Take your ball home guys, it’s all over. It's the last day of the Season, and we wanted to give Myths and Legends a proper send off, and so we’ve got a special bumper edition news item today as a lot of the CUE elves wanted to share their favorite cards of the Season! There’s a surprisingly eclectic mix here, so let’s take a look at what we loved, and feel free to share with us your favorites too!

AvidGrant says "Ikkyu is one of my favorite historical figures and I've always thought he'd be a great match for the vibe of CUE. It's great to see him make it in and it doesn't hurt that he provides a (small) buff to one of my favorite collections!"

AvidTobes really likes Emu in the Sky for the cool content. “I love trying to decipher how people saw the emu and the lore is really cool!”

AvidsEmma and Ana choose Magic Carpet as a favorite. Emma says “I love the Fiction and Fantasy collection so this was always going to be a favourite for me. I think this is a great way to work towards building a 1001 Nights deck with Scheherazade, Sinbad and Ali Baba! Plus, I sing the song every time I look at it - "A Whole New Wooooooorrrrrrrld!". Ana also dreams of flying away to a whole new world that only storytelling can bring to life!

As a Mammals player, AvidOli obviously likes Maned Wolf with its simple, decent ability. And these aren’t our words, but “I like the “if you have lost at least one round this game” abilities, which always apply to me.”

Resident Movie Connoiseur AvidPaul shares: “There are a few cards I like from this season (both German Expressionism and The Great Train Robbery (1903) are solid choices and help towards making a Stage and Screen deck a bit more viable), but I think my actual favourite is Mizongyi. I think the possibilities offered by the different Play positions both suits the card well and also brings a random dexterity to the turn, and I think that's kinda fun.”

AvidAli loved the Pomegranate card. “Despite our fierce objections to a Fruit and Veg collection, it turns out they can actually be pretty interesting. I really like the mythology behind the pomegranate seeds, and a well-set up combo for big rewards is extremely satisfying!”

One AvidJoe likes the Sword of Damocles: “I've been in love with Greek mythology since being a kid so it was a tough choice between that and Kharon. Sword of Damocles edges it out simply because it’s the weapon I’m using in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!” (not an ad.)

A second AvidJoe is an Arthurian Legends superstan, saying: “My favorite’s the Book of Taliesin. We all know Arthurian Legends is the best collection in CUE, it's right at the top of the collections tab and you can't argue with that. Last season, we had some pretty cool support with King Arthur's Messianic Return so another addition is putting Arthurian Legends in a pretty exciting spot! Competitive Arthurian decks have previously been built around the Holy Grail, which is a fairly tricky card to come by, so having this new support goes a long way for people wanting to explore the collection. It's a great time for Arthurian fans!”

Our third AvidJoe (yes, we collect them), is a fan of Inostrancevia, just because it's the goofiest looking apex predator they've ever seen! It doesn't look fearsome at all!

And finally, AvidAndreea really couldn’t pick a favorite, but loves the cute taco cat artwork for Palindrome, and the Boney M Rasputin reference. And we’re sensing a theme with the bird-related cards she’s chosen too, with one of her favorite mythical creatures, the Hippogriff, finally joining the game with a cool ability, Heracles Inexpectatus, because the only thing cooler than a parrot is a huge parrot, obviously, and finally the Bluebird: “it’s so cute that he’s blue and he’s eating a fruit that looks like a blueberry.” We couldn’t agree more!
