Invented on the dining tables of Victorian England, Table Tennis picked up various names from Whiff-Whaff to Ping Pong. The name Table Tennis however, was soon chosen due to the threatened legal action from the owners of the Ping Pong trademark.
Despite it’s Anglo-centric origins, Table Tennis is the national sport of China. The Chinese have dominated the world rankings for decades, winning 116 out of 138 championship titles since 1981. Total domination.
