A real crowd-splitter, Artificial Intelligence is usually tipped as either the solution to all of our problems or the catalyst to the demise of the human race. Either way, scientists are on track to creating AI systems that are one-tenth as smart as a human by 2035. By 2060, some researchers expect AI to perform nearly all the tasks that humans do.

Initially coined by John McCarthy in 1955, artificial intelligence is a machine that can solve problems that humans perform using natural intelligence. Already, AI robots have proven capable of repairing themselves and writing like humans, with one robot penning an article on an earthquake in California. Weirder still, Saudi Arabia has already given citizenship to a social humanoid robot called “Sophia”.
