Meet the Black-Tufted Marmoset, the primate kingdom's answer to Danny DeVito: short in stature with fluffy tufts of hair on either side of their heads.
Meet the Black-Tufted Marmoset, the primate kingdom's answer to Danny DeVito: short in stature with fluffy tufts of hair protruding from either side of their heads. While we can't confirm if they share DeVito's dark, absurd, and self-deprecating wit (we don't speak monkey), we do know that these New World Monkeys live in close-knit family groups.
Thriving in the forests of the Brazilian Central Plateau, Black Tufted Marmoset pairs breed twice a year and remain monogamous. When their babies grow up, they help their parents raise their younger brothers and sisters. Group members warn each other of dangers like snakes, birds of prey, and wildcats with specific cries. Again, we don’t speak monkey, so we have no clue what they're saying.
