The capital city of King Arthur’s Realm, Camelot was first introduced to the legend in 12th-century French romances. Since then, it has come to be synonymous with the legend of King Arthur and his court. Camelot represents a society in perfect harmony – also known as Utopia. This is symbolised by the equality among the Knights of the Round Table.
Although most scholars agree that Camelot is totally fictional, there are still some who believe it was a real place – and the location of the castle has been the subject of thousands of years of rumour and speculation. One retired professor even claims he discovered the location of the mythical castled city on the outskirts of Huddersfield, England!
