“What can one do to be care-free? Only answer: come drink with me!” - A slice of wisdom from Cao Cao, a legendary warlord and poet of ancient China.
“What can one do to be care-free? Only answer: come drink with me!” Nope, that’s not a line from a catchy summer anthem, it's a slice of wisdom from Cao Cao, a legendary warlord and poet of ancient China.
During the last years of the Eastern Han dynasty, General Cao Cao was on a roll, invading enemy territories, wiping out Yuan Shao's heirs and allies, and firmly establishing his rule over northern China. During these raids, he amassed a treasure trove of valuable spoils, rewarding those who showed incredible strength and effort with generous shares.
His attempts to unify China ultimately failed, but he did found the large state of Wei and introduce agricultural reforms that helped supply his troops and stabilise the economy. You go, Glen Cao Cao!
