Sneak up on this snake and it won’t hesitate to sink its 12mm-long fangs into your flesh and deliver 120 milligrams of highly toxic venom.

Word on the snake street is the coastal taipan can kill up to 56 humans in a single bite. Like the black mamba, this species hunts animals that are much larger and capable of harming the snake during confrontation. To avoid danger, the coastal taipan simply sits back, waits for an unsuspecting meal to drop by and lunges when the time is right. The result? A feast that will last for months.
