Fletchertown Road, Bowie, might sound like any other mundane stretch of asphalt, but tread carefully - for this is Goatman territory.
Fletchertown Road, Bowie, might sound like any other mundane stretch of asphalt, but tread carefully - for this is Goatman territory. Half-man, half-goat, this cryptid first made headlines in 1971 after the Edwards family found their missing dog beheaded on the road. The night it happened, April Edwards claimed she heard strange noises and saw a large creature. Later reports spoke of an “animal-like creature that walks on its hind legs.”
Some see him as a vengeful goat herder who went mad after teens killed his goats. Another theory says he's a result of a failed USDA experiment, which makes one wonder about the other experiments. With a tendency to chase teens, decapitate dogs, and occasionally belt out the greatest hits of goat noises, it's no surprise Goatman’s become a local sensation.
