Need help with metalworking, blacksmithing, forging or masonry? Then call on Hephaestus – the God of fire, blacksmiths, craftsmen, and volcanoes. He lived in a palace on Mount Olympus where he crafted tools, including a winged helmet + sandals for Hermes and armour for Achilles.
According to one myth, Hephaestus made a throne for his mother, Hera, to sit on. But when she sat upon the throne, she was unable to get back up (we’ve all been there.)
So, Zeus ordered Hephaestus to marry Aphrodite, the most beautiful goddess, in return for releasing Hera from the throne.
If you’re ever in Athens, check out the Temple of Hephaestus: it houses workshops of potters, metalworking and blacksmithing as an honour to the god.
