Clocking in at a terrifying 2.5 metres of pure kraken chaos, these deep-sea dwellers hunt in packs, using their colour-changing abilities to coordinate bioluminescent light shows that overwhelm their prey. With a target acquired, they use their sharp beaks to tear apart their victims.
Before you get up in arms about this cephalopod, know that the Humboldt Squids days may be numbered. Climate change and overfishing are threatening its habitat, and without swift action, this incredible creature could disappear.
