As the funeral procession looks in the casket, if the body is missing, Kasha has struck – a trickster ghost that steals corpses from funerals and cemeteries.
“Dearly beloved, welcome to the celebration of life for our dear friend… oh not again!” As the funeral procession looks down at the open casket, the body is missing. Kasha has struck – a trickster ghost that steals corpses from funerals and cemeteries.
Japanese folklore describes the kasha as a humanoid cat-demon with the head of a cat and a tail that burns with a bright flame. They are said to travel the world on burning chariots taking the souls of those who have lived a sinful life to hell. To protect bodies from kasha, funerals would be performed twice, with either a razor on top of the coffin or a stone on top of the corpse.
