When “smallest wildcat in the Americas” fell onto CUE HQ’s desk, we knew we had to introduce you guys. The Kodkod, also known as the güiña is a tiny little fella maxing out at just 20 inches, which we’re reliably informed is smaller than a male Portuguese water dog.
Thanks to its elusive nature, we don’t know loads about what makes Kodkods tick. We do know how much they look like Geoffrey’s cat, and that despite its impressive tree climbing skills, their numbers are unfortunately in decline.
Despite its conservation status being listed as Vulnerable, even rarer is the melanistic kodkod, the gorgeous goth variant. We love them both.
