We don’t need to look to space to find aliens. Even in our oceans exist the most bizarre and down-right terrifying creatures. Take the Lamprey, for example.
We don’t need to look to space to find aliens. Even in our oceans exist the most bizarre and down-right terrifying creatures. Take the Lamprey, for example. For a start, this is one of the only vertebrates with a single nostril. But that’s not even the weirdest part.
When the Lamprey matures, it grows to become an eel-shaped sea vampire, latching its terrifying tooth-filled mouth onto fish and grinding away at their scales to reveal bloody flesh beneath. Given that lampreys have at least 12 rows of teeth arranged in circles around their mouths, that’s got to be a gruesome way to die.
Thankfully, there aren’t too many recorded attacks of lampreys on humans, so unless you’re planning to evolve into a fish, you’re probably safe. (for now.)
