Oh he a big boi: the Langstonia is an extinct genus of notosuchian crocodylomorph named after the palaeontologist Wann Langston, Jr. We assume this is because Langston first described the creature in 1965, not because he looked like the ancient crocodile.
Hitting a maximum of 2.7 metres in length, the Langstonia is just a little bit longer than your average Christmas tree. But given the sharp, serrated teeth of this giant carnivore, it’s probably best not to hang baubles from its massive tail. Still, a bit of tinsel wouldn’t go amiss.
Sadly, the waterways of South America dried out as the Andes Mountains rose, causing a shift in the ecosystem that led to the extinction of Langstonia. God rest ye, merry gentle croc.
