Python

To the uninitiated, Python is a danger noodle with deadly venom. To programmers, it’s a high-level coding language.

To the uninitiated, Python is a danger noodle with deadly venom. To programmers, it’s a high-level coding language. Dutch programmer Guido van Rossum began developing Python in the late 1980s, unleashing it upon the world in 1991. It’s often deemed slow, as it interprets code line by line. Nevertheless, developers praise it for its easy, readable syntax, with over 50% of StackOverflow users using Python.

By 2015, Python had become more popular in schools than French – apparently the kids of today would rather code than conjugate verbs. Honestly, I get it.

Major sites like YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest are powered by Python, and since the language's name comes from Monty Python’s Flying Circus, we can only assume the Ministry of Silly Walks is using it to run their systems too.
