Move over, Giant Sequoia - you’ve got nothing on Yggdrasil, the colossal, cosmic ash tree of Norse Mythology whose branches span the Nine Realms. Apparently, its name means “the horse of Yggr”, Yggr (Terrible One) being another name for Odin.
This interdimensional arboreal giant has seen more action than your average Middle Earth chronicle. Inhabited by a menagerie of quirky creatures like the squirrel Ratatoskr (whose favourite pastime is relaying insults between the dragon Nidhogg and the eagle perched atop Yggdrasil), this tree of life finds itself regularly shaken by the four stags constantly nibbling at its branches.
But the true VIPs are the three Norns, or Norse goddesses, who tend to Yggdrasil's roots, casually determining the fates of all existence while doing their gardening duties.
