Sadly, with fewer than 100 individuals left in the wild and 200 or so in captivity, the Amur leopard is one of the rarest of the species. Most are found in Russia and China, and given how endangered this species is, Russia’s got some pretty strict laws about hunting it.
If you kill an Amur Leopard, you could be fined 1,100,000 rubles and face two years in jail. If the crime is committed by an organised group, the fine can be as high as two million rubles with a jail term of five to seven years.
