Controversially, De Brazza’s Monkey stands against diversity, and will act aggressively towards other species. Only some colobine species are considered acceptable, as they do not compete with De Brazza’s monkeys for resources.
In case you wondered, these monkeys are named after explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, who established Brazzaville, the capital city of Congo - one of the countries they are endemic to. However, their scientific name ‘neglectus’ was given to them because of their ability to hide from both humans and predators.
