Standing tall on Castle Rock in the Scottish capital is Edinburgh Castle, a structure that has been attacked so many times it’s considered the most besieged place in Great Britain and maybe even the world.
Standing tall on Castle Rock in the Scottish capital is Edinburgh Castle, a structure that has been attacked so many times it’s considered the most besieged place in Great Britain and maybe even the world.
Built by King David I, the castle has been home to a host of kings and queens in the 1,100 years of its history. No one lives there now - well, no one alive, that is. However, several ghosts do haunt the premises, including the Grey Lady, an unlucky prisoner who died attempting an escape hidden in a wheelbarrow of manure, a bagpiper who vanished while exploring a tunnel and is occasionally heard playing beneath the town, a headless drummer warning of danger, and a friendly black dog seen near the castle's pet cemetery.
