Measuring roughly the size of a squirrel, the Golden Lion Tamarin sports luxurious manes around their face that would make Mufasa proud. Yet, these lively little primates aren’t just a pretty face - they’re highly intelligent, too.
Like little primitive, furry orange humans, golden lion tamarins use tools to crack open tasty treats like grubs and fruits. And get this - they even have their own dedicated GLT- communication channel, chatting to each other through a complex system of whistles and chirps.
Sadly, decades of habitat loss have pushed the golden lion tamarin to the brink, and golden lion tamarins are critically endangered, with only a few thousand left in the wild. So if you ever have the chance to see one in person, consider yourself lucky.
