Deep in the Savernake Forest in Wiltshire is an absolute unit of a tree. Known as the King of Limbs, this colossal oak is thought to be around 1,000 years old, boasting more branches than you can shake a stick at.
Deep in the Savernake Forest in Wiltshire is an absolute unit of a tree. Known as the King of Limbs, this colossal oak is thought to be around 1,000 years old, boasting more branches than you can shake a stick at. Back in the day, this beast would have been used as a marker due to its wide-spreading branches. Sadly, it’s been shedding branches for decades - possibly even centuries. One has sadly broken off, which sits at the base of the King of Limbs.
The tree isn’t too far from the 18th Century Tottenham House, where Radiohead recorded ‘In Rainbows’ - apparently, the King of Limbs left a lasting impression as it inspired their 2011 album of the same name.
