When you tell this reptile to drop and give you 50, it’ll do it no problem. But swole is not the goal for the Lava Lizard.
When you tell this reptile to drop and give you 50, it’ll do it no problem. But swole is not the goal for the Lava Lizard. You see, just like human men, male lava lizards exhibit major signs of fragile masculinity, using push ups as a visual display of strength to intimidate competitors from his territory.
Should another male feel he is stronger, a push-up contest will take place. And if that doesn’t settle it, the two may ‘slap’ each other with their tail or even bite each other. When they aren’t fighting, they’re basking in the sun with their besties, the marine iguanas, or scurrying over the black lava that covers most of the islands (hence the name).
