Does something smell funny to you? Before you call in the Drug Squad, look around: it might not be a youth enjoying the Devil’s Lettuce, but rather, a Maned Wolf, whose urine smells oddly similar to cannabis. In 2006, authorities were called at Rotterdam Zoo to investigate a visitor allegedly smoking up while observing the animals. Despite its name, it's not actually a wolf. With a fabulous mane and long, stilt-like legs, the Maned Wolf is more like South America's answer to "What if we made a fox, but yassified it?”
Although they’re solitary animals, these creatures communicate through a series of vocalisations known as "roar-barks," which sound exactly as threatening as you'd imagine. As for their diet, maned wolves are omnivores, enjoying fruits, vegetables, and the occasional small animal.
