Behold: Predjama Castle, the world's largest cave castle, perched on a 400-foot cliff in Southwest Slovenia. This grand five-storey edifice, boasting 15 rooms, has been rebuilt twice: once following an earthquake and once post the skirmishes between its most notorious owner, Erazem Lueger (or Erasmus von Lueg) and Emperor Frederik III.
After Erazem killed the commander of Emperor Frederick III's army, he took refuge in the castle, evading the ensuing siege with secret tunnels. Erazem not only survived but taunted his attackers by chucking buckets of cherries at them. Yet, the tale took a twist when a disloyal servant signalled Ezarem’s location during his outhouse visit. A cannonball did the rest, killing Erazem mid-bowel movement. (P.S: They've since fixed up that outhouse.)
