While it sounds like a cross between a 1970s punk band and a creature from Dungeons and Dragons, this piece of British folklore is attached to several towns in England. While there are stories that date back to the English Civil War, there are actually some tales that are even older than that, going back as far as the 13th Century.
Screaming Skulls are said to be the spirits of the dead who haunt just their skulls. Not the whole skeleton - that would make it weird apparently. Just the skull. And they like to scream. Loudly. Like the kind of alarm clock Tim Burton might own.
