Reptiles to the left of me, mammals to the right - here I am, Bonacynodon. If I lived in modern times, you can guarantee I would be kept as an exotic pet by someone with more eccentric taste. Instead, I was born in the Triassic period in what you now call southern Brazil. And boy, that was a time to be alive!
I saw everything from the world’s first flying vertebrates to the dawn of fearsome marine reptiles. Okay, I didn’t actually see any of those. I was too busy scavenging for my next meal or guarding my eggs. Yup, despite being furry, I laid eggs like my reptilian ancestors. When scientists discovered my fossilised remains, I was chilling out on the decomposing body of a giant Dicynodont. Not a bad way to go, really.
