Childish jokes aside, the Femur really is the longest, and strongest, bone in the human body.
Childish jokes aside, the Femur really is the longest, and strongest, bone in the human body. Located in the thigh, the femur has the important job of supporting the weight of your body when you stand. It also keeps you stable as you move and connects muscles, tendons and ligaments in your hips and knees to the rest of your body. Without it, you’d move around like a human slinky.
The unsung hero of our upright adventures, the femur is made up of several parts. These include the femur proximal aspect, the femur distal aspect and the femur shaft (contain yourselves, please.) Together, they are able to support as much as 30 times the weight of your body.
