Houston, we have a legend! Meet Dick Gordon, the astronaut who took multitasking to new heights. Selected in the third astronaut group, Richard F Gordon flew on Gemini XI, performing two spacewalks. The first entailed fastening a 100-foot tether for a stabilisation experiment. During the second, Gordon stood in the hatch opening with only his head and shoulders outside, snapping photos of the Earth.
Later in his career, this space cowboy piloted the command module for Apollo 12. While Conrad and Bean explored the Moon's surface, Gordon circled the moon alone for 37 hours, 42 minutes and 18 seconds, scouting out future landing sites and taking stunning pictures of the moon in the process. Throughout his career, Dick Gordon spent a stellar 13 days in space.
